Beating the January Doldrums

We've been lucky to get some nice January days.  Most of January has flown by with school and activities, but we've been able to squeeze in some time outside.  Girl Scout Cookie sales are in full swing, along with dance recitals, and awesome teacher conferences and report cards.  All great grades all the way around and some exceptional math accomplishments (Sofia) and writing accomplishments (Stella).  Nico had a great review and is officially ready for Kindergarten, and I sign him up next week for the fall.  My contract job ends soon and I am getting very antsy for some free time.  More likely, I'll see my house needs to be cleaned and I'll find some house projects to start back up.  Vic is almost finished with the kitchen remodel.  It has been delayed waiting on materials, but it just might be finished in February - pictures to follow.

Sofia jazz danced and Stella tap danced in two recitals back to back.  They love it (but love the costumes the most.)

We taught the kids how to play Clue.  That is my game from childhood my mom saved all these years.  As with all game nights, we try to explain the rules, but that never works with three different ages and three different types of questions overlapping, so we always end up relying on the first round to shake out all the confusion.  This time, Vic goes first, says Col Mustard did it in the Dining Room with a Revolver.  He then checks with all of us one after another to see if we have any of the cards (which means they are not in the confidential envelope) and as he went around, we thought the kids would get the gist of it and see when someone showed him a card, he would mark it off of his list - thus deductive reasoning.  Problem was - no one had any of the cards and he got it right on the first guess!  Has that ever happened??  Vic and I were rolling on the ground laughing at the chances of that, and the kids thought it was the dumbest game ever because it was over so fast and not everyone gets a turn!!!  So not fair!!  Haha!  I guess we'll try again another time.

Saturday breakfast with Vic's waffles and bacon.  Notice Sofia is not there since she sleeps until 10 on Saturdays.

This weekend we are getting ready for the Super Bowl with the Seahawks.  Everyone is in a frenzy around here.  Today is "Blue Friday" in Seattle, so everyone is wearing blue.  The kids did some fun things at school.  The girls made a "12th man" at recess and Nico sprayed his hair green - but his awesome preschool teacher always outdoes everyone!  Go Seahawks!
Sofia is in the back row on the top of the "1" and Stella is waving her arms up in a medium blue jacket on the second row at the bottom of the "2".
